PRESERVE PRISTINE AIR IN GREAT BASIN NATIONAL PARK (NEVADA)

Background
:

The Great Basin National Park was established in 1985 as the only national park in Nevada. Although it was designated only as a Class II Air Basin, its air quality is uniquely good. On a clear day, from the top of Wheeler Peak one can see 200 miles in any direction.

However, because of the threat of coal-fired power plants in eastern Nevada, this air quality could be significantly degraded.

Resolution:

The Federation of Western Outdoor Clubs strongly supports the effort to make the Great Basin National Park a Class I Air Basin in order to preserve the pristine quality of its air.
