FEDERATION OF WESTERN OUTDOOR CLUBS

CRATERS OF THE MOON NATIONAL MONUMENT
19.

ISSUE
Ten years ago the Bureau of Land Management approved the designation of 450,000 acres known as the Great Rift Wilderness.  The area is adjacent ot the Craters of the Moon National Monument.  There was unanimous agreement for this proposal from all concerned parties.  The proposal was sent to Washington, DC, where it has languished.

STATUS

The recent proposal to greatly enlarge the sizes of the Craters of the Moon and give it National Park status has created resistance from cattlemen, sheepmen, and hunters.

WHAT TO DO

The Federation of Western Outdoor Clubs recommends that the BLM-approved proposal called the Great Rift Wilderness be added to the Craters of the Moon National Monument, Idaho.
