_FORESTS EAST OF THE CASCADES_
|
| Recognizing the ecological
threats facing eastside forests of Washington and Oregon, the
Federation of Western Outdoor Clubs (FWOC) supports the following
actions: |
|
1. Permanent
protection of
all remaining old growth forests -- ancient forests.
|
|
2. Permanent
protection of all remaining roadless areas.
|
|
3. Protection of all
watershed and fisheries.
|
|
4. Significant
reduction in levels of logging.
|
|
5. Assistance to
affected timber dependent communities facing an historic transition.
|
| The FWOC requests that the
U.S. Forest Service and other affected federal agencies adopt policies
and practices to bring these results about. |
